The Delburn Wind Farm, Australia’s first publicly owned wind project, will begin construction in early 2026. The 33-turbine site south of the Latrobe Valley will deliver 205MW of clean energy—enough to power over 130,000 homes when operational in 2028—helping position Gippsland as a key hub for future renewable investment.

The Project Manager, Wind Energy supports the delivery of renewable energy infrastructure projects within the Asset Delivery team. This includes day-to-day project management, quality assurance, and best practice construction delivery. The role requires a blend of project management expertise, technical knowledge in wind energy systems, the ability to manage a portfolio of projects, and a strong track record of best practice delivery.
Reporting to the Project Director, Wind Energy, the position will support the Project Director in managing the project’s contractors including, if relevant, a construction manager and/or an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor.

Core Accountabilities
  1. Project Planning and Execution:
    • Develop comprehensive and clear project plans (e.g., for asset delivery activities), including scope, schedule, budget, and resource requirements.
    • Identify, manage and control interface risks associated with project planning and execution.
    • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, external advisors, and regulatory bodies to ensure project milestones are met while maintaining high standards.
    • Manage delivery of all contractual milestones by contractors (i.e., Construction Manager, EPC), including contractual conditions, management plans and design deliverables.
    • Lead aspects of business case preparation associated with best practice and quality assurance.
  2. Quality Control
    • Manage project delivery quality control processes, ensuring all project stakeholders provide QA records as required.
    • Manage and plan for end of project handover documentation, including O&M scope.
  3. Safety
    • Support the contractors’ and construction manager’s safety teams to ensure the best possible safety outcomes on the project.
  4. Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting:
    • Liaise with project stakeholders and the community as required.
    • Facilitate regular communication and updates on project status, addressing concerns and inquiries promptly.
    • Prepare briefing reports (including PowerPoint slides, Board papers, correspondence responses as well as formal and informal briefs) for briefing across all levels of organisation and government.
    • Prepare responses to correspondence and queries including from formal and informal sources (e.g., Parliament, roadshows).
  5. Compliance and Regulatory Requirements:
    • Ensure project activities comply with government regulations (including electrical safety, Health, Safety and Environment), permits, and environmental standards.
    • Collaborate with legal and regulatory teams for licensing, permitting, and approvals.
  6. Budgeting and Cost Control:
    • Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure cost-effective procurements.
    • Develop, monitor, and report on internal team budgets related to project activities.
  7. Risk Management:
    • Identify and manage project risks, developing mitigation strategies for timelines and budgets.
    • Implement effective risk management practices throughout the project lifecycle.
  8. Contractual Obligations:
    • Ensure compliance by all parties with terms and conditions of agreements, MOUs, and joint development agreements.
    • Collaborate closely with legal and finance teams to meet contractual requirements.
  9. Interface Across Business Units and Beyond:
    • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to achieve successful project and program outcomes, including contract negotiation, variations and execution in line with organisational policies.
Experience and Skills

Must Have:
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Project Management, or related field.
  • Extensive, proven project management experience in wind energy, infrastructure development, or related field.
  • Extensive experience in managing project management activities of an EPC or Construction Manager.
  • Strong knowledge of wind technologies.
  • Extensive experience in best practice delivery of projects, including meeting local content targets, Traditional Owner / Aboriginal Victorian engagement, conducting social procurement, and successful community engagement.
  • Experience managing contractual obligations under share sale agreements, joint development agreements, or MOUs.
  • Excellent communication skills, influencing diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Proficient in project budgeting, budget monitoring and financial reporting.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic delivery environment.
Highly Desirable:
  • Experience managing grid connection process with AEMO and NSPs.
  • Extensive experience in project scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning software.
  • Experience in construction management tools like Aconex, Primavera, MS Project, Microsoft Project Portfolio Management (PPM).
  • Experience with Earned Value analysis.
  • Familiarity with government policies, regulations (including NER), and commercial arrangements for renewable energy.
  • Familiarity with broader renewables such as solar and BESS.
