Owners Representative
On-site role supporting a major solar project. Monitor progress, identify risks and report back to Contact. 20 hrs/week contract, flexible.
- Construction goes through to July 2028, long term contract
- You can be based anywhere between Auckland and Whangarei
- Be Contact Energy's representative at the Glorit Solar Farm
We’re looking for an experienced engineer or project professional to act as Contact Energy’s on-site representative for the Glorit Solar Farm, collaborating closely with Lightsource bp, the Asset Manager, who are leading project delivery.
This is not a traditional project management role. You won’t be running the job. Instead, you’ll be the eyes and ears on site, ensuring Contact has clear visibility of risks, issues, opportunities, and overall performance as the project moves through design and engineering, construction, commissioning, performance testing, and provisional acceptance.
About the Role
Reporting into the Major Projects team, you will act as Contact’s on-the-ground presence during the execution phase of the project.
You will closely collaborate with the Asset Manager’s on-site representatives to:
- Monitor construction progress across safety, schedule, cost and quality
- Identify emerging risks, issues and opportunities early
- Provide clear, concise updates back to Contact’s leadership
- Support alignment between stakeholders to keep the project moving
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone who understands how projects actually run on site, and can translate that into meaningful insight.
You will likely have:
- Experience working on construction or infrastructure projects (ideally energy or renewables)
- Strong understanding of how projects move through design, construction and commissioning
- The ability to identify risks early and articulate them clearly
- Confidence in an interface-critical environment involving contractors, consultants, suppliers, delivery teams, etc
- A collaborative approach with strong interpersonal and communication skills

- Play a key role supporting project outcomes without being buried in delivery
