We’re looking for an experienced Operational Technology (OT) Lead to join our collaborative IT team and drive the evolution of our OT systems and strategy.

The Role
This is your chance to take the reins of Wellington Electricity’s OT landscape – SCADA and real-time systems to and critical infrastructure.

You’ll be the central point of expertise, responsible for:
  • Setting the strategic direction for OT, SCADA, and real-time platforms.
  • Leading innovation in automation, patching, and configuration management.
  • Overseeing project delivery, budgets, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensuring risk, compliance, and cybersecurity best practices across OT systems.
  • Coordinating contractors, consultants, and vendors to deliver high-quality outcomes.

About You
You’re someone who thrives in an environment where the only constant is change. You love tackling complex challenges and leading with vision.

You’ll bring:
  • 10+ years’ experience in the electricity industry (ideally distribution).
  • Hands-on expertise with GE PowerOn SCADA, OT communication protocols, and RTU configuration.
  • Strong knowledge of OT systems, Linux/Windows admin, and scripting (PowerShell, Azure CLI, Bash, Python).
  • A degree in Electrical, IT, or Telecommunications Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication skills – able to explain complex concepts to both technical teams and senior leaders.
