Financial Modeller – Renewable Energy – Tokyo, Japan
Financial Modelling role focused on onshore wind, open to strong modelling backgrounds in energy, infrastructure, or construction.
- Build and own investment-grade financial models for onshore wind projects across
- Partner with investment, finance, and project teams on valuation, M&A analysis,
- Deliver IRR, NPV, payback, and sensitivity analysis to support investment and IC
This role sits at the centre of the investment function and works closely with Investment, Finance, Project Development, and Engineering teams. It offers hands-on exposure to live infrastructure transactions and long-term renewable assets.
Candidates with strong financial modelling experience from energy, infrastructure, construction, or adjacent capital-intensive sectors are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities Financial Modelling
- Build and maintain detailed project financial models for onshore wind projects
- Develop and analyse DCF, IRR, NPV, equity returns, payback, sensitivities, and scenarios
- Model revenues, capex, opex, taxes, financing structures, and valuations
- Ensure models are robust, auditable, and investment-grade
- Support preparation of investment papers, valuation materials, and internal recommendations
- Analyse project economics, tariff structures, merchant exposure, and policy impacts
- Assist with due diligence, commercial analysis, and risk assessment
- Contribute to M&A-style evaluations and transaction support
- Work closely with Project Development to validate assumptions and inputs
- Collaborate with Engineering teams on production, capex, and performance data
- Coordinate with Finance on funding structures, debt sizing, and downside cases
- Support engagement with lenders, advisors, and external consultants
- Maintain and improve modelling templates and internal standards
- Support portfolio-level analysis and long-term financial projections
- Contribute to continuous improvement of modelling tools and documentation
- 3+ years’ experience in financial modelling, investment analysis, project finance, or corporate finance
- Advanced Excel modelling skills (macros/VBA a plus)
- Strong understanding of IRR, NPV, DCF, WACC, sensitivities, scenario analysis
- Exposure to project finance, M&A, or investment committee processes
- Experience in renewables or infrastructure preferred, but not essential
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Able to clearly explain financial outputs to non-financial stakeholders
- Detail-oriented, organised, and comfortable working to deadlines
- Collaborative and effective across technical and commercial teams
