We are currently working exclusively with one of Queensland's most active Renewable Energy Developers, Energy retailers and Generators backed by the Queensland Government. in CleanCo.

The Financial Control Manager, based in Brisbane, is responsible for managing CleanCo’s finance and accounting operations including management and financial accounting, tax and treasury accounting, settlements, revenue, reconciliations, accounts and payroll.

The Financial Control Manager ensures CleanCo’s financial reporting and analysis, budget consolidations, cash flow management and taxation statements are completed and submitted timely, accurately and compliance to all relevant statutory laws, accounting and taxation principles.

You will drive the performance and ongoing development of the financial control function, including policy, procedures and processes and will be an important contributor to ongoing improvement of CleanCo’s ERP system. The Financial Control Manager leads the multi-functional Financial Control team providing guidance, mentoring and development for team members.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial control strategy & governance
- Leadership of CleanCo’s financial controls strategy in alignment with CleanCo’s risk and compliance teams
- Management of financial controls policies and systems
- Management of the preparation of financial statements and year-end financial audits
- Creation of learning environment and development opportunities
- Establish networks throughout the organisation (across functions and geographies)

Compliance & reporting
- Ensure compliance with statutory law and financial regulations
- Development of reporting methodologies, cycles and tools
- Produce financial performance reports for leadership and key stakeholders across the business
- Appraisal of business performance and profitability against budget
- Management CleanCo’s tax and accounting compliance obligations

Stakeholder engagement and team leadership
- Close collaboration and consultation with key stakeholders across the business; leadership, Customers & Energy Markets, Finance & Strategy managers, Legal & Governance
- Identify and develop relationships with external partners, relevant bodies and advisors
- Continuously develop and maintain industry knowledge and financial management thought leadership
- Provide leadership and mentoring for Financial Control team members
- Provide management support to team members in setting goals, providing feedback and assessment

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

- Tertiary qualifications in Finance or related discipline
- CA /CPA qualification

DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE

- Strong team leadership and development skills
- Strong financial, technical and analytical skills
- Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards
- A good understanding of Energy Markets trading especially the roles of Back and Middle office functions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in developing and maintaining key stakeholder relationships
- Industry experience in resources, infrastructure or utilities sectors is highly desirable
