Engineering Manager - Renewable Energy / BESS

We are currently partnering with a leading EPC organisation in Brisbane on their search for an experienced Engineering Manager to support the delivery of major renewable energy infrastructure projects.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an engineering professional with strong EPC and utility-scale energy project experience, particularly within Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), renewables, or power infrastructure.
The successful candidate will lead engineering design and technical delivery across large-scale energy projects, ensuring safe, compliant, commercially optimised, and constructible outcomes from development through to commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the engineering design function across complex renewable energy projects
• Provide technical leadership, governance, and oversight across multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Drive design assurance, verification, validation, and engineering best practice
• Oversee integration of electrical, civil, structural, mechanical, controls, and IT/OT disciplines
• Act as the technical authority for major project decisions, risk mitigation, and design optimisation
• Coordinate with project delivery, procurement, construction, commissioning, and commercial teams
• Manage external engineering consultants, OEMs, and technical stakeholders
• Support value engineering, CAPEX/OPEX optimisation, and project scheduling activities
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, safety requirements, and regulatory obligations
• Promote innovation, continuous improvement, and safety-in-design principles

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Energy, or related discipline)
• 15+ years’ engineering experience, including senior leadership roles within renewable energy or power infrastructure
• Strong EPC and/or Balance of Plant (BoP) project experience
• Demonstrated success delivering large-scale renewable energy projects including BESS, solar, wind, or hybrid systems
• Proven capability managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and external consultants
• Strong understanding of engineering governance, project lifecycle delivery, and technical risk management
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and leadership skills
• CPEng, RPEQ, or equivalent certifications highly regarded
