- Lead, grow and develop a high performing electronics team
- Specific industry experience not essential - utilise your leadership skills
- Move into an Engineering Management Role - be part of their executive team
The Role
The Team Lead will oversee a group of upto 8–10 engineers, with potentially more depending on individual project scope. While the company’s core work is in high-current power electronics and energy storage, candidates don’t need to come from this exact background. What matters is strong people leadership, a track record of delivering engineering outcomes, and the ability to keep projects aligned with commercial objectives.
The leadership style here is hands-on in terms of people and delivery, but flexible on technical involvement. You may be 90% focused on team and project management and 10% on design reviews or schematic input — or strike a different balance if that’s your preference. The important piece is ensuring the team executes effectively and grows in capability.
This role has a clear career path. The expectation is for this position to evolve into an Engineering Manager role, with broader leadership responsibilities as the business scales. It’s also an ideal step-up for senior or principal engineers looking to transition into formal team leadership.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience leading electronics/hardware engineers — either as a senior/principal engineer, team leader, technical PM or engineering manager.
- Strong project delivery skills: able to balance technical priorities with commercial outcomes.
- Comfortable managing people — setting expectations, mentoring, and supporting growth.
- Electronics design background – any sector considered, and experience in Energy storage or Power Electronics is not essential.
- Suitable for senior/principal engineers seeking a first leadership role, as well as established managers ready for a new challenge.
This is a chance to join a growing clean energy business at a pivotal point in its expansion. You’ll shape an engineering team, influence how projects are delivered, and position yourself for an Engineering Manager role.
The role offers a central Melbourne CBD office, flexible work arrangements, and a competitive salary package that includes employee share options. The business champion diversity, equality and a welcoming culture to ensure employee’s feel genuinely comfortable within the business.
