About the Opportunity We are seeking an Electrical & Control Systems Engineer to join a growing specialist engineering firm delivering advanced control systems, electrical design, and automation solutions for industrial clients. This role offers exposure to challenging projects, from custom machine control systems to full plant automation, and provides a clear path for career progression.
The position is flexible regarding your mix of electrical and controls experience. You’ll work across the full project lifecycle: design, programming, commissioning, and client support. We’re open to candidates at different seniority levels — whether you’re an engineer with solid experience ready for more responsibility or a seasoned specialist looking for a senior role, we can tailor the opportunity to match your background.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, and commission control systems for industrial machinery and plant, including both standard and customised solutions.
- Design electrical switchboards, motor control centres (MCCs), and control panels to specification.
- PLC, SCADA, and HMI programming (experience with RSLogix, Studio 5000, Ignition, Citect, Wonderware, WinCC, or similar).
- Provide technical support and innovative solutions to clients and internal teams.
- Assist with project cost estimations and quotations.
- Maintain and back up engineering software across client systems.
- Mentor and support junior engineers as your career progresses.
Essential:
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ industrial electrical or controls experience.
- Demonstrated PLC programming skills.
- Solid understanding of electrical safety and compliance.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude.
- SCADA/HMI programming experience, Ignition knowledge a plus.
- Experience with electrical safety systems.
- PowerCAD experience or willingness to develop skills in this area.
- Interest in pursuing RPEQ registration (support provided).
- Project management or client-facing experience is an advantage.
