Electrical Engineer (BESS) – Renewable Energy Projects
Locations: Hobart, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, or regional NSW (Gulgong or Uralla)

About the role
Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join their Construction and Engineering team. In this role, you will provide technical expertise across the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects – from initiation and development through to construction, operations and maintenance.
You will act as a trusted advisor, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders including consultants, contractors, network service providers, and AEMO. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Australia’s energy transition while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical advice and preliminary designs to support project development activities.
- Prepare specifications and evaluate tenders, supporting contractual negotiations.
- Manage the owner’s role in design processes and provide input on technical issue resolution.
- Conduct QA/QC site inspections, audits, and witness acceptance testing.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes.
- Support operations through inspections, incident reviews, and specialist electrical engineering input.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
- Promote a safety-first and security-conscious culture.
- Mentor junior engineers and share expertise across the organisation.
We are looking for a motivated engineer with a strong background in renewable energy.
Essential:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical, Power, Mechatronics, or similar).
- Solid knowledge of Australian electrical standards and safety regulations.
- Experience across the development, planning, construction, and operation of renewable energy projects.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to manage complexity under pressure.
- Ability to work independently within a remote team environment.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Postgraduate qualifications in engineering.
- Technical experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- 10–15 years of experience in the energy industry
