Phillip Riley is proud to be partnering with EDL, one of Australia’s leading providers of sustainable distributed energy, to recruit a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer for their growing Project Development team.
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with deep expertise in reciprocating engine power generation, particularly gas and diesel engine (genset) technologies. This is an exciting opportunity to join an industry leader delivering reliable, innovative energy solutions across remote power, hybrid energy and thermal generation projects throughout Australia.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and delivering capital projects from concept through to execution. Working closely with the Project Development, Business Development and Operations teams, you will provide technical leadership, develop practical engineering solutions and work directly with clients to bring new projects to life.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing technical solutions and supporting new project opportunities
- Preparing proposals, scopes of work and technical documentation
- Identifying and managing technical project risks
- Working closely with clients to understand their operational needs and develop fit-for-purpose solutions
- Coordinating engineering activities with external consultants and contractors
- Supporting project budgets, schedules and delivery outcomes
- Assisting with environmental approvals, permitting and statutory requirements where required
You will be a commercially minded Mechanical Engineer who enjoys working with clients and solving complex engineering challenges.
To be successful, you will bring:
- A Mechanical Engineering degree
- Approximately 10+ years’ experience within power generation, utilities or heavy industrial sectors
- Strong expertise in reciprocating engine power generation, including gas and diesel generators (gensets)
- Experience delivering capital projects from development through to execution
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to evaluate technical and commercial outcomes
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
- Willingness to travel interstate as required
