Senior Asset Manager – Renewable Generation
Lead and build a growing NZ asset management function across major renewable generation assets, with strong regional and global support.
- Build the NZ Asset Management function and shape how it operates
- Solar experience welcomed, broader generation backgrounds considered
- Auckland preferred, with flexibility for an exceptional NZ-based candidate
As the first dedicated Asset Management hire in the country, you will act as the primary local point of contact and initially manage Kōwhai Park Solar Farm, with responsibility expanding as the client's New Zealand portfolio grows.
You will work closely with and be supported by established Asset Management teams across APAC and globally, while playing a key role in shaping the local function and delivering effective asset management in New Zealand.
The role
You'll be responsible for the commercial, technical and operational performance of the client's NZ assets.
You'll work across contractors, landowners, network companies, regulators and internal teams, with responsibility for the full management of the NZ assets, including but not limited to:
- Managing EPC and O&M contractor performance and contractual obligations
- Managing budgets, forecasts, costs and asset performance
- Coordinating technical, commercial and operational issues
- Managing key local stakeholder relationships
- Establishing the systems, processes and reporting required as the portfolio grows
We're looking for someone with around 8–10 years' experience across Asset Management, operations or power generation. We want someone with the right attitude who is proactive, ambitious and keen to get involved.
Utility-scale solar experience would be ideal, but isn't essential. We will also consider experienced Asset Managers from wind, hydro, geothermal or other generation environments.
You'll need strong experience across:
- Generation asset performance and operations
- EPC and O&M contracts and contractor management
- Budgets, forecasting, cost control and commercial performance
- Managing multiple technical and commercial stakeholders
- Working across assets and sites with a high level of autonomy
Knowledge of the NZ electricity market is preferred, although experienced Australian candidates looking to relocate to Auckland are encouraged to apply.
The role is Auckland-based; NZ site travel is expected approximately monthly, with occasional travel to Sydney.
Our client offers competitive remuneration, a performance incentive and benefits. To apply please use the link below or for a job description / confidential discussion then contact Daniel Gallen on 0212762657
Applicants must already hold appropriate NZ work rights.
If you're an experienced Asset Manager from solar or the wider generation sector and want to build a function rather than inherit one, we'd like to hear from you.
