Mechanical Operations Engineer – Wind

Global renewable energy company requires an experienced Mechanical Operations Engineer to manage the technical performance of their operating assets

Role;
A global leader in green energy with aggressive and sustainable strategic green energy growth targets, requires an experienced Mechanical Operations Engineer to manage the technical performance of their operating assets with a focus on compliance and improving availability through strategic working and asset management strategies. It is expected that there will be travel between the wind farm sites and their Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane offices to assist site teams during peak operations.


Responsibilities;
  • Managing all changes to the mechanical systems of company renewable and thermal assets.
  • Identify, promote and manage programs to improve the efficiency, yield and profitability of assets.
  • Lead the asset management of wind turbine blades (asset information, repair status and cost, spares, subcontractors).
  • Ensure commercial, regulatory and contractual obligations and milestones are met including, but not limited to HSE, landowner agreements, planning consents, O&M contracts and insurance.
  • Conduct analysis to support innovation activities across the Operations team.
  • Collaborate in the negotiation of long-term agreements and resolution of contractual disputes that stem from the operation of assets.
  • Review the asset reports detailing individual asset operating performance.
  • Prepare, review or commission ad-hoc operational and financial analysis as required.
  • Assist in the development and management of annual asset budgets and other planning activities.
  • Assist in the continued development of processes and procedures within the Operations team.
  • Ensure all asset level key risk registers are regularly reviewed and maintained.
  • Manage CAPEX and OPEX projects from feasibility to completion.
  • Work with various internal and external teams to deliver projects.

Requirements;
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Self-motivated, self-disciplined and highly results orientated. High level of initiative and proactive problem solving essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to deadlines and deliver under pressure.
  • The confidence to collaborate and build strong relationships across different levels of seniority.
  • The ability to handle a variety of projects at any one time and deal with competing priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exposure to a broad range of commercial agreements relating to the
  • generation and supply of electricity.
  • Experience in similar roles in the energy sector or engineering
  • companies with energy focused roles.
  • A strong knowledge of the local regulatory environment applicable to Australian energy market participants including the National Electricity Rules is highly desirable.
  • Availability to travel to the generation assets.
