- Key role across a growing utility-scale BESS portfolio
- Autonomy, senior exposure and variety across multiple projects

This is a great opportunity for an experienced development professional to play a key role in progressing a growing portfolio of utility-scale BESS projects across Queensland and New South Wales, working across projects at different stages of development.
Working closely with the Australian MD and an international head office team, you will have the autonomy to drive projects forward across planning, approvals, land, stakeholder engagement, grid connection and commercial development.
This is a hands-on role in a lean and entrepreneurial business, suited to someone who enjoys having responsibility, making decisions and seeing projects progress rather than operating within a large corporate structure.
The Role: As Development Manager, you will take day-to-day ownership of projects across the Australian portfolio, working across multiple stages of development.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading project development from early-stage origination through to financial close readiness
- Managing planning, environmental approvals and development processes across Queensland and New South Wales
- Managing external consultants and coordinating technical, planning, environmental, legal and land workstreams
- Leading landowner, government, council and community engagement
- Supporting grid connection activities and working with network and technical advisors
- Identifying and assessing new project opportunities across land, grid, planning and environmental considerations
- Supporting commercial evaluation, development budgets and investment decisions
- Contributing to financial close activities, including due diligence and data room processes
- Providing regular project reporting and risk management to the Australian Country Manager and UK head office
- As the business grows, supporting the development of a small Australian development team
You will ideally bring:
- 7+ years' experience in renewable energy, energy storage or infrastructure development
- Strong experience managing planning and environmental approvals for large-scale projects
- Experience across Queensland and/or New South Wales
- Strong stakeholder management skills across landowners, government, councils and communities
- Good commercial understanding of project development, budgets and risk
- The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A hands-on, proactive approach and the confidence to work within a lean, growing team
Experience taking projects through to financial close, including due diligence and data room processes, would be advantageous.
A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, planning, environmental science, law or a related discipline is also desirable.
What's in it for You?
You will have the opportunity to:
- Work closely with senior leadership in Australia and internationally
- Work across projects at different stages of development
- Enjoy a flexible WFH arrangement, with the role based in Sydney or Brisbane
- Join a lean team where autonomy, initiative and commercial thinking are valued
- Potential to grow a team as the portfolio expands
