An established international renewable energy organisation is seeking a Trading Room Manager to lead round-the-clock market operations and help shape trading strategy across large-scale solar, wind and battery projects. This position combines operational leadership with market strategy, supporting assets from early development through commissioning and ongoing commercial performance.

In this role, you will manage real-time trading activities, guide a team of operators, maintain compliance with National Electricity Market (NEM) rules, and provide market insight to both internal stakeholders and external clients. The position suits someone who enjoys fast-paced decision-making and wants to influence how renewable projects enter and operate within the energy market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a 24/7 trading operations team, fostering strong performance and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee live market bidding, dispatch monitoring, and operational decision processes.
  • Provide energy market expertise across the asset lifecycle, including analysis of constraints, loss factors, FCAS opportunities, and price risk.
  • Support market registration activities, bidding setup, and onboarding of new generation assets.
  • Assist in developing trading strategies and coordinating client approvals.
  • Manage environmental certificate trading and contribute to forward contracting or derivatives discussions.
  • Prepare and deliver regular trading performance and market insight reports.
  • Maintain compliance with market rules, regulatory obligations, and internal governance standards.
  • Coordinate responses to incidents, outages, and key stakeholder communications.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance trading systems, processes, and service delivery.
About You
  • Background in NEM trading, control room operations, dispatch, or energy market functions.
  • Solid understanding of AEMO processes, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Exposure to development-phase renewable projects or commissioning activities is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical thinking, clear communication skills, and confident decision-making.
  • Comfortable operating in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments.
  • Proven leadership experience within technical or operational teams.
