Technical Director/Principal Engineer – Primary Systems
Lead the design function of a renewable energy business and mentor the next generation of engineers in this Senior role.

The role:
You’ll provide technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of projects.
You'll lead the design and review of HV substations, guide multidisciplinary engineering teams, work directly with developers, asset owners, EPC contractors and NSPs, and help shape projects from early feasibility through to commissioning.

Reponsibilities:
- Leading primary electrical design for HV and EHV substations
- Providing technical leadership across wind, solar, BESS and transmission infrastructure projects
- Supporting grid connection and integrating substation design with broader power system requirements
- Working alongside power systems, protection, SCADA and commissioning specialists
- Contributing to feasibility studies, FEED packages, Owner's Engineer assignments, due diligence and technical reviews
- Identifying technical risks and developing practical engineering solutions
- Mentoring engineers and driving engineering excellence across the business
- Building trusted relationships with clients and becoming a recognised technical leader within the industry
About you:
- Chartered Electrical Engineer status (CPEng) and RPEQ desirable
- 12+ years' experience in primary electrical engineering
- Extensive experience designing HV and EHV substations
- Strong knowledge of AIS, GIS and hybrid substations
- Experience across transmission, distribution and renewable energy infrastructure
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build long-term client relationships
- A passion for mentoring and developing engineers
