Operations Engineer / Senior Operations Engineer

Reporting To: Operations Leadership Team

Position Overview

The Operations Engineer / Senior Operations Engineer will support the performance, reliability, and operational management of a growing renewable energy portfolio, including utility-scale generation and energy storage assets.
Depending on experience level, the successful candidate may take ownership of operational performance initiatives, contractor management, and asset optimisation activities across the portfolio.
The role will work closely with internal stakeholders, OEMs, and external service providers to optimise asset performance, support maintenance activities, and ensure compliance with operational, safety, and market obligations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and analyse operational performance across renewable energy and storage assets
  • Support and coordinate preventative and corrective maintenance activities
  • Assist with fault identification, incident investigation, and root cause analysis
  • Liaise with OEMs, contractors, and service providers to ensure service delivery standards are achieved
  • Support grid compliance, market compliance, and operational reporting requirements
  • Track asset availability, performance KPIs, and operational performance metrics
  • Support outage planning and operational risk mitigation activities
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across operational processes and systems
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with WHSEQ policies and procedures
  • For senior candidates, provide technical leadership and support contractor and stakeholder management activities
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience within renewable energy, utilities, power generation, or broader energy infrastructure environments
  • Exposure to renewable generation, energy storage systems, hybrid systems, or high-voltage electrical assets preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively across technical and commercial teams
  • Understanding of power systems, SCADA, asset performance monitoring, or grid compliance is advantageous
  • Senior level candidates may demonstrate experience managing asset performance, contractors, operational reporting, or portfolio operations activities
